Have you ever thought about taking a Yoga Teacher Training?
Yogamaya’s 200-hour teacher training is a beginning, a journey, an initiation—a place you arrive when you are called (or simply, when you decide to come).
For some of you, you’re reading this at the exact moment that you’re ready—right now.
Maybe you will go on to become an excellent and dedicated student of yoga, or perhaps you will pursue the vocation of teaching. Our New York City yoga teacher training is the perfect place to start.
A step like taking Yoga Teacher Training is a big decision, and it’s normal to have questions! So, we thought we’d take a moment to answer two of the most common questions we hear from aspiring trainees.
Do I have to be good at yoga to take a yoga teacher training?
Short answer: No! The goal is to show up authentically and deepen your connection with the practice—physically, mentally, and spiritually.
In our training, you’ll discover new layers of your practice, build confidence, and connect deeply with teachers and students in the Yogamaya community. At its core, yoga is about relationships, not performing complicated poses – but as a side benefit your practice will most certainly feel stronger and more informed.
Our best students are hungry to learn, dedicated to their practice, and ready for new experiences.
Will I be able to teach yoga classes when I graduate?
Yes! We design our teacher training programs so you feel confident and capable of stepping into a teaching role. By the end of your training, you’ll have the tools and knowledge to lead classes, with a robust understanding of the foundational asanas, sequencing, yoga philosophy, and solid teaching techniques.
We create a supportive environment where you use your own voice and practice teaching from your very first weekend! There are opportunities to work on your teaching voice throughout the entire training so when you graduate, you’ll feel ready to teach.
You’ll also be deeply immersed in our community of our Senior Teaching Staff, all of who are full-time yoga teachers in New York City, who will mentor and support you in your personal practice and your teaching.
